Conor McGregor Slammed for Telling Floyd Mayweather Jr. 'Dance for Me, Boy'

But the boxing legend's dad doesn't think the UFC star was being racist.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor kicked off their joint promotional tour yesterday in Los Angeles to further hype their August 26 mega fight in Las Vegas. And predictably, they traded epic insults.

Mayweather guaranteed McGregor that he will be "going out on your face or on your back" and called him a "little b***h." Meanwhile, the UFC superstar boldly predicted that he'll knock Money out within four rounds while jabbing at the boxing legend's reported tax troubles by saying "he can't even afford a suit anymore."

But things took a turn when Mayweather started shadow boxing on stage inside of the Staples Center and McGregor yelled, "Dance for me, boy!"

Wait...what?

The racial overtones of the statement had fight fans and more calling the UFC sensation a racist. While Mayweather Sr. didn't think that McGregor was being racist, a lot of people disagreed.

Here's how McGregor got slammed for his controversial comment.

    Did he mean it racially?

  • Immediately, Fox Sports's Chris Broussard and more jumped on McGregor for the racist comment

  • For what it's worth, Floyd Mayweather Sr. didn't think McGregor's remark was racist

"Racist? I don't know what that got to do with race," Floyd Sr. told TMZ Sports after the L.A. press conference ended.

A lot of people disagreed, though.

  • Regardless of how McGregor meant it to be received...

    Insensitive is an understatement.

  • And fans used the remark as a reason to encourage Money to drop the UFC loudmouth next month

Yes, Floyd could retort with his hands.

  • Even one irish fan said that McGregor was wrong

Say that again for those giving McGregor the pass.

  • Even non-mayweather fans got behind him with support after hearing McGregor's comment

    Hard to argue with this.

  • And at the end of the day, fight fans are expecting revenge

Will Mayweather knock McGregor out? Or do you expect him to put on his traditional boxing clinic en route to another victorious decision?
