Robert Griffin III: I'm the Best Quarterback in the NFL
Robert Griffin III had a bottom-tier NFL quarterback rating of 86.9 and only played 9 games last year. NFL coaches and talent evaluators even ranked him as the 28th-best quarterback in the league last month, placing him among the fourth and worst tier of QBs in football.
But ask the Washington QB and he'll tell you he's the best quarterback in the league right now. Really?
“I don’t feel like I have to come out here and show anybody anything or why I’m better than this guy or better than that guy. It’s more about going out and affirming that for me, I go out and I play, I know I’m the best quarterback on this team. I feel like I’m the best quarterback in the league and I have to go out and show that,” he told local WJLA, as reported by the Washington Post.
“Any athlete at any level, if they concede to someone else, they’re not a top competitor, they’re not trying to be the best that they can be," he added. "There’s guys in this league that have done way more than me. But, I still view myself as the best because that’s what I work toward every single day.”
Whether supremely confident or just plain delusional, RGIII has plenty of work to do to rebound from a dismal 2014 season, when he threw for just 1,694 yards and four touchdowns, while throwing six interceptions, fumbling five times and being benched.
