Pacers to Rock Hoosiers-Inspired Jerseys as Alternates Next Season
There's a good chance that no NBA team will have a hotter alternate jersey than the Indiana Pacers next season.
On Tuesday, the Pacers announced that they'll celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1986 movie Hoosiers by wearing the film's "Hickory" jersey as their alternates during select games of the 2015-16 season, as reported by ESPN. The announcement totally makes sense, considering the underdog sports movie ties into Indiana basketball as much as Larry Bird and the Pacers.
Pacers point guard George Hill modeled the alternate, Hoosiers-inspired look on the team's Instagram account Tuesday.
Cool look, right?
The Pacers are happy to take part in this.
"Our team will be honored to wear the Hickory uniforms because of the attention it will bring to the storied history of Indiana basketball and the success of that movie," Bird, the Pacers president, said in a statement, as reported by ESPN. "Hoosiers takes us all back to a special place and time."
