Atlanta Mayor Calls Out Voting Issues With Long Lines And Broken Equipment
The Democratc and Republician primary is today in Georgia and there are already signs of trouble.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting wait times as long as “2 hours and 40 minutes” to vote in Fulton County. Reportedly, “a long-time poll manager couldn’t figure out how to insert the cards that record votes into the machines” and “it was upside down, which took poll workers an hour to figure out.”
The Washington Post reports “some polling locations didn’t open on time, and others had no working voting machines in at least four counties in the first hour of voting in Georgia’s primary.”
See the video below of a poll worker telling voters that the machines aren’t working properly.
The Georgia Secretary of State’s office is reportedly putting the blame on poor planning from county leaders.
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms tweeted, “If you are in line, PLEASE do not allow your vote to be suppressed. PLEASE stay in line. They should offer you a provisional ballot if the machines are not working.”
There are key issues Georgians are voting on such as ending cash bail, same day voter registration and should voting rights be restored to every Georgian that has served their sentence for a crime they committed.
See reactions below from other Georgia voters.
