Mike Pence Trolled For Telling Americans To 'Spend More Time On Your Knees Than The Internet'
It’s been a while since Mike Pence did or said something worthy of a trending topic on Twitter, but lucky for the internet, the vice president recently gave Twitter users enough material for a lifetime of jokes.
During an event this week for the Alliance Defending Freedom, Pence addressed the controversy surrounding his wife’s decision to teach art part-time at the Immanuel Christian School, a school in Virginia that prohibits gay students and parents.
After Karen Pence joined the school, LGBT advocates and the American Civil Liberties Union criticized her and her husband for supporting hateful policies.
On Tuesday, Pence defended his wife and said he was shocked to see the backlash.
"We honestly didn't see that one coming. Our kids went to this school," Pence said at the event. "As a Christian believer, we're charged to pray for our loved ones, but also pray for our enemies. You have lots of opportunities in politics to do that."
Then Pence went on to suggest Americans spend more time praying; however, his choice of words may not have been the best considering his tumultuous relationship with the gay community.
"No. 1 is spend more time on your knees than on the internet," Pence said. "Forgiveness is a great gift."
His words quickly became the hottest joke on everyone’s Twitter timeline.
Many couldn’t help but point out the hilarious irony behind his statement.
