George Zimmerman was pulled over by police in Forney, Texas, Sunday afternoon for speeding on a highway and told officers that he had a gun in his glove compartment.
The stop happened at 12:47 p.m. on Highway 80 and lasted five minutes. On a police video recording of the stop, an officer asked the acquitted neighborhood watchman where he was heading. Zimmerman responded, "Nowhere in particular." After identifying Zimmerman, the officer told him to close his glove compartment where his gun was held.
Zimmerman was then cleared to go without a verbal warning. Zimmerman's lawyer Mark O'Mara told ABC News that his client was taking time off to get away.
"For his safety, we won't make any comments about Zimmerman's whereabouts, and we will work to protect his privacy," he said.  
Robert Zimmerman Jr., George Zimmerman's brother, said on Twitter Wednesday that his family's safety continues to be threatened. "Our family receives many death threats. We all continue to take our security seriously and to ensure our safety in accordance with the law."
This is the second time Zimmerman has surfaced in the news since the second-degree murder trial in the killing of Trayvon Martin. On July 22, police said Zimmerman helped rescue a family who was trapped in an overturned vehicle.
