Ranking Drake, Kanye West And Jay Z’s "Pop Style" Lines From Best to Worst

Gold bars or paper thin ones? We ranked them.

The internet received yet another view from The 6 as Drake dropped off a new track titled “Pop Style,” featuring The Throne: Jay Z and Kanye West. While this is, in fact, the first song ever from the likely-yet-unlikely trifecta, the bars situation should arguably be phenomenal. Was it? Sort of. “Pop Style” isn’t the longest cut in the world, so packing in punchlines would be the assumed method of attack. And there are some strong contenders, but not nearly enough. We did find 15, however, and ranked them from best to worst. Check them out for yourself before they become Instagram memes and retweeted quotes.
“They still out to get me, they don't get it / I can not be got, and that's a given” – Jay Z
Here comes Jay Z saying two lines on a song and having the best two lines out of everyone. There’s something to be said about brevity, especially when it comes from the mouth of a titan.
“I can't trust no f**kin' body / They still out to get me 'cause they never got me” – Drake
Ooh, here comes Drizzy taking lessons from the Monster of the Double Entendre, as he combines being misunderstood with being untouchable. What a combo.
“And I like to finish what you think you started / Man you boys just got to Hollywood, you boys just started / You don't know what you just started” – Drake
Uh oh. Bringing more shots to Meek Mill’s bar stool? While his Roc Nation boss is on the track no less! Come on now, it wouldn’t be a recent Drake verse without some recognition that he’s not here for it.
“Why do you know every single b***h that I know? / Why can't you just shut your mouth and take the high road?” – Kanye West
The audacity of Kanye West to say a line like this makes it a top pick. Seriously, Yeezus talking about the high road? He needs his GPS to find it these days. Still, #bars.

“I feel like they wanna see me learn the hard way / But you know I always handle that one my way” – Drake

Drake always plays by his own rules. #RespectableBars
“Take you to the garage and do some karate / Chop it, chop it, chop it, chop it sipping sake / Throw a thick b***h on a Kawasaki” – Kanye West
Now you may at first glance say, “What? These lines are ridiculous!” Say them out loud. Again. And again. You’re welcome.
“We went way, way past the line of scrimmage, aye / Throne is back up in it, aye” – Kanye West
This isn’t so much an amazing line as it’s a sigh of relief that Jay and Kanye are making music together again — even if it’s just Jay checking in for five seconds and Ye finishing the thought. We take what we can get.

“All I do is hang with the young and heartless / All this is for my family, man, I try my hardest / It's all I ever did and look where it got him” – Drake

Ambitious bars alert! Drake should be proud of putting in all that work. After all, who else could make a successful transition from a teen drama star to rap meme legend? But that “young and heartless” mention could also be something to decode: does he mean hanging with young like Young Hov and “Heartless” like Kanye’s old single? Hmmm.
“Cop a crib and spend ten million on remodel / Take the devils out my life and preach the gospel, 'cause I know” – Kanye West
If you’ve been Keeping Up With The Kardashians, you know this line is not a lie. Kim and Kanye damn near needed an exorcism to stop the home remodeling demons from continuously possessing them.
“In the field like Emmitt, aye, y'all get so offended, aye” – Kanye West
OK, this one isn’t so much good or bad as it is questionable. Does he mean Emmitt Smith or Emmitt Till? The answer will determine whether this goes further up the top of the list or to the bottom. That’s why it sits right here near the middle.

“F**k if I know, that's that Chicago, aye / South, south, side, that's the motto, aye” – Kanye West

#LazyBars but hey, any shout out to Kanye’s roots is reason enough to smile, knowing Calabasas hasn’t completely swallowed his soul.
“They like Pablo, why are all the windows tinted on your Tahoe?” – Kanye West
OK, what? You know Kanye doesn’t drive a Tahoe. Pablo probably doesn’t either.
“Girl let me rock, rock, rock, rock, rock your body / Justin Timberlake and then I hit the highway” – Drake
Meh. Even JT would be like, “What?”

“I be blacking out, I ain't backing out” – Kanye West

Yawn.

“Got so many chains they call me Chaining Tatum” – Drake

Nope, Drake, absolutely not. Nothing magic about that line, Mike.
