You would think that since Michael Jordan has made so much money off of hip hop claiming his shoes as their own he would be at least be a fan of the culture. Apparently that’s not the case, according to N.O.R.E.

The LeFrak native recently sat down with B Dot and Elliott Wilson for their Rap Radar Podcast and dropped some gems about a chance encounter he had with the basketball legend. When asked to describe what he meant when he proclaimed “Jordan is a hater of hip hop,” Noreaga explained himself.

“I seen him shut Redman down at a Def Jam Christmas party,” he said. “We were all sitting there waiting to speak to Michael Jordan. Ni**as said, ‘Yo, Redman and Method Man is here.’ [MJ] said, ‘F**k rap.’ I seen the ni**a say that…Quote me. I believe it was Redman and Method Man, and I’m to the side, so I can directly hear his voice. He was like, ‘F**k rap.’ That sh*t hurt me. Def Jam Christmas party, Mariah Carey hosting and shit like that. He only spoke to Hov, but he spoke to Hov. That’s without a doubt.”

The brief encounters with MJ began when the two were in the same location for the 1999 video “Oh No”, which Hype Williams directed. It featured a Roy Jones Jr. fight with Michael in attendance. He surprisingly asked if he could have his image removed from the video, which leads to the speculation that he didn’t cosign that type of music from the time.
