Democratic National Committee Announces Special Musical Guest (And It's Not Kendrick Lamar)

Perhaps this rapper will be the next to win over President Obama.

While Kendrick Lamar has had the honor of meeting with President Barack Obama to discuss topics such as mentorship in the past, a different rapper has been recruited to perform at this year’s annual fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee.

Today (Feb. 25) it has been announced that J. Cole is scheduled to perform at the event, which is to take place in Austin on March 11, the first day of the 2016 SXSW Interactive Festival. The president himself will also be in the building for the fundraiser, which is billed as a reception paired with a musical performance.

While Cole’s camp hasn’t yet announced if he will perform as part of the official SXSW showcases or not, the Democratic National Committee’s fundraiser is just four days before the music portion of the festival kicks off, so hopefully he’ll stick around to surprise fans.
