DJ Khaled Explains How He Became Snapchat's King on 'Nightline'
If you haven’t followed DJ Khaled on Snapchat yet you’re REALLY missing out. The hitmaker turned social media star has documented everything from his “keys to success” to even getting lost on a jet ski off the coast of Miami.
Recently sitting down with ABC News' Nightline, Khaled explains who “they” are in reference to those he claims hold you down. “This relaxes me when I water my plants,” he said, “when I see the flowers grow, when I talk to the lion.” The We The Best Music headman says his persona is not an act and estimates 50 percent of his newly gained musical fan base comes from Snapchat.
Finally, Khaled talked music and how he’s progressed through his career over the years. “I make hits, I find hits, and I put hits out,” then continues, “It confuses me and disappoints me when somebody says, ‘What does he do?’ My records are some of the biggest anthems ever. What you think, they magically just appear? Obama walked out to my record. That day I officially said ‘I made it.'”
