Pharrell Remixes A Tribe Called Quest’s Classic, ‘Bonita Applebum’

The song comes in preparation of Tribe’s 25th anniversary of People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm re-release.

Pharrell Williams is one of the best when it comes to putting his own flavor on a track. This time, the legendary producer decided to take a stab at A Tribe Called Quest's classic “Bonita Applebum” and we must say, bravo.

The remix, which was released on RollingStone.com, will be one of three new songs making its appearance on the forthcoming reissue of Tribe’s People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, slated for a November 13 drop. The Anniversary Edition will also include remixes of “Footprints,” featuring CeeLo Green, and “Can I Kick It,” produced by J. Cole, which are currently available for free download if you pre-order the project on iTunes.

The album is completely remastered from the original tapes used to put together the classic LP. Grammy-award winning engineer Bob Power will have a heavy hand in the release, which is slated to be the first in a series of re-issues scheduled in the coming years.

A Tribe Called Quest released their debut album, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, in 1990 to critical acclaim. It would lay groundwork for the Queens posse, as they would become a staple of East Coast hip hop during the early- to mid-'90s. “Bonita Applebum” was the LP’s second single.
