Janet Jackson: This Year, New Music, New World Tour
On the eve of her 49th birthday, Janet Jackson decided to turn the tables and please her fans with the gift of their dreams. The performer officially announced that she is hard at work on her 11th studio album and a 2015 wold tour. She posted a snap on Instagram linking to a video titled, "Announcement."
"I promised you'd hear it from my lips and now you will," Jackson says in her signature sultry voice. "This year, new music, new world tour, a new movement... I've been listening. Let's keep the conversation going."
The upcoming album will mark the iconic pop star's first release since 2008's Discipline, which spawned the cuts "Feedback" and "Rock With U." The project also comes less than one year after the 25th anniversary of her game-changing LP Rhythm Nation 1814.
As the "Black Cat" singer mentioned, she's been listening to — and apparently watching — her loyal fans, who earlier this year circulated a cheeky yet seriously intentional missing persons flyer around the Internet. According to ET Online, Twitter user @myvelvetrope was behind the operation, pleading to Jackson, "we need you back." The photo eventually made its way to her and her team — longtime collaborator Jimmy Jam shared the image before the megastar responded, "LOL. Too funny, too sweet."
While no further details have been revealed as to what sound, look or feel she is going for this era, it's hard to deny that this is a very exciting time in music. Welcome back, Ms. Jackson — if ya nasty!
