Kendrick Lamar Hits the Road for Pop-up Shows
In the days following the physical release of To Pimp a Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar pulled fans in on an impromptu tour.
How much did it cost? $Free.99.
"9pm. meet me here ... 930pm. meet me here." King Kunta tweeted Tuesday evening (March 24), along with locations on Sunset Blvd. and Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles. Once there, he was spotted performing selections from TPAB and good kid, m.A.A.d. city as well as songs written by Tupac, all from the back of a truck.
Folks poured into the streets, chasing the vehicle, which was equipped with a makeshift stage on its flatbed, flashing lights with notes like #GETPUMPED, and logos from TDE and Reebok.
"Man, this a good motherf**king time," Kendrick said in between songs. "Keep this s**t going."
To Pimp a Butterfly dropped unexpectedly online last week, and in stores March 20. That day, he also popped up at a Compton Best Buy for a surprise album signing.
