Chris Brown Pleads Guilty in Assault Case
Chris Brown was sentenced to time already served in court Tuesday (Sept. 2), after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault of a fan in Washington D.C. According to TMZ, the singer told the judge that he just wants the case to go away so that he can go on tour.
Last year, Brown, 25, and his bodyguard Christopher Hollosy, were arrested for allegedly striking a fan outside of a D.C. hotel. The “New Flame” singer rejected a plea deal this past June that would have enabled him to avoid further jail time, having already served four months in connection with the case.
Brown apologized in court, saying that the case had distracted from his career during this past year.
“I would like to say to the court that I’m sorry,” he reportedly said.
Like Brown, Hollosy was also convicted of misdemeanor assault in April, but has not yet been sentenced.
The R&B crooner served two days in a D.C. jail, and 108 days in an L.A. County prison, since the D.C. case violated his probation in the 2009 case with then-girlfriend Rihanna.
Brown’s current girlfriend, Karrueche Tran was present in the courtroom Tuesday for moral support.
