Shyne Takes Aim at Diddy With New Diss Track
Shyne has fashioned himself as a peaceful man of God since being released from a near 10-year bid in prison, but the former Bad Boy rapper recently reignited an old beef with a new diss song aimed at Diddy. The track, called "You're Welcome," blasts his old label boss and mentor and his track record as an artist manager.
"Look, I seen the plot / What he did to Mase and did to LOX / What he did to Wolf and he did to [Ak] / God bless the dead, Notorious Pac / Why would I think that I was different? So I just sat in the distance," Shyne rhymes.
The song was reportedly written years ago, but Shyne decided to release it now after being disappointed by Diddy's failure to help him in his efforts to get his life back on track. The Belize native had asked Diddy to help get the word out about his petition to the White House to be granted permanent U.S. residency, but the Bad Boy Records founder declined.
Earlier this year, Shyne and Diddy had shown signs of burying the hatchet with a much touted reconciliation in Paris during Fashion Week. In 1999, Shyne was accompanying Diddy and his then girlfriend Jennifer Lopez to Club New York when he became involved in a dramatic shoutout for which he served a lengthy sentence.
