Mitt Romney Gets a Fundraising Windfall
GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney is catching up to President Obama in the money game. First reported by the New York Times, Romney and the Republican National Committee raised $40.1 million in April, just a few million shy of the $43 million that Obama’s re-election campaign and the Democratic National Committee raised. In addition, it is considerably more than the Republican candidate’s comparatively meager $12.6 million March haul. Democrats, by contrast, pulled in $53 million that month.
“We are pleased with the strong support we have received from Americans across the country who are looking for new leadership in the White House,” said Romney national finance chairman Spencer Zwick in a statement.
