Terry McMillan Gets Dragged by Black Twitter for Saying 'All Lives Matter'

Novelist agrees with Martin O'Malley, Raven-Symoné.

A week after Raven-Symoné stirred up controversy for voicing her agreement with Martin O'Malley's statement that "All Lives Matter," Terry McMillan is getting dragged by Black Twitter for echoing the misguided motto.
The bestselling novelist posted the controversial phrase — an "expansion" of Black Lives Matter, which many believe diminishes the point of the anti-brutality movement — on Twitter, and before long her mentions were flooded with comments pointing out her perceived misstep.
The reactions ranged from dismissive to angry, but some were genuinely saddened that a luminary in the Black community like McMillan would fail to grasp the point of the movement. "If all lives mattered there wouldn't need to be a #BlackLivesMatter, but here the f**k [we] are," wrote one user, while another said, "This ignorance hurts. Why do people feel that saying black life has value negate the lives of others?"
This morning, McMillan responded on Twitter, "I don't need any of you on my timeline suggesting that I don't understand or respect that #BlackLivesMatter just because I said all do." She also added, "For those who don't think I don't believe #BlackLivesMatter just because I said I believe all lives do, then stop following me."
