Casting News: Beyoncé Eyed for A Star Is Born Remake
Obsessed co-stars Beyoncé and Idris Elba have new roles lined up in two major films. Queen Bey is being courted to play the lead in a remake of A Star Is Born while Elba is set to replace Jamie Foxx in the revenge thriller The Trap.
According to Deadline, while her involvement has not yet been solidified, Beyoncé is currently being courted by Warner Bros to flil the lead role in a rebooted version of A Star Is Born alongside Bradley Cooper.
Fans of the "Partition" singer may recall that she was first approached by Clint Eastwood to star in the film back in 2012 when she was still under the management of her father Mathew Knowles. She reportedly turned down the role after releasing him as her manager and, instead, decided to focus on her pregnancy with daughter Blue Ivy.
In addition to starring as the male lead, American Sniper actor Bradley Cooper is also set to direct the film, which saw music legend Barbra Streisand star in the lead role in its second remake in 1976.
Neither Beyoncé nor her camp have confirmed if she has accepted Warner Bros.'s offer.
In other casting news, Shadow and Act reports that Idris Elba has signed on to replace Jamie Foxx in the Harmony Korine revenge thriller The Trap. Also starring Robert Pattinson, James Franco and Al Pacino, the film will follow the lives of two childhood friends who become estranged and take vastly different paths into adulthood.
The Trap is tentatively set to be released in 2016.
