VH1 Cancels Ev and Ocho Following Chad Johnson Arrest
The fallout from Chad Johnson and Evelyn Lozada's brush with domestic violence over the weekend continues.
Hours after Johnson was cut from the Miami Dolphins, the couple's upcoming reality show Ev and Ocho has been canceled by VH1. The Basketball Wives spinoff, intended to follow "the journey of this charismatic and passionate couple's every step, as they prepare to walk down the aisle and into each other's hearts forever," was due to premiere on September 3.
Now, the network tells TMZ that they have removed the show from their lineup permanently:
"Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series Ev and Ocho from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it."
Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson was arrested on Saturday after allegations of domestic violence stemming from a vicious fight he had with his wife of five weeks, Evelyn Lozada. The fight supposedly erupted after Lozada found a reciept for condoms in Johnson's car, and turned physical when Johnson head-butted Lozada and left her with a 3" laceration on her forehead.
Lozada reportedly fled the scene to a neighbor's home and was then taken to the hospital, while Johnson was taken to the county jail. He was released Sunday on $2,500 bond. Johnson seems to deny attacking his wife, claiming instead that Lozada head-butted him, but acknowledges that their verbal fight did turn physical.
Johnson is expected to go before a judge in Broward County on Monday.
