Spike Lee in Final Talks to Direct Mike Tyson's Broadway Show
Their HBO boxing drama Da Brick may have fallen through, but Spike Lee and Mike Tyson aren't ready to quit each other just yet.
TMZ reports that the iconic filmmaker is in final talks to direct Tyson's Broadway show Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth. Tyson seemed to have confirmed the news, telling the site, “we’re discussing it (Broadway) now. Spike Lee is going to be involved. Awesome.”
The one-man autobiographical show had a surprisingly successful week-long run in Las Vegas earlier this year. It tells not only the story of his rise and fall as a boxing great but also of his tumultuous youth growing up as the son of a pimp and prostitute in Brooklyn.
Sources say Lee has been talking to Broadway bigwigs about launching the show as early as this summer.
