Moneybagg Yo Reveals He Once Held The Migos Down In A Fight

Moneybagg recounted the story during a recent interview with Complex.

Memphis rap star Moneybagg Yo kicked off 2020 with a bang amid the release of his Time Served album —  the final chapter to close out his “Federal” series. As such, he’s been making his promotional rounds and dropped by Complex’s New York studio on Wednesday (Jan. 15) where he shared some of his most cherished memories during his come-up.

Speaking to Complex host Speedy Norman, Moneybagg slipped in an anecdote about a time him and Blac Youngsta came in clutch for Atlanta trapateers, Migos.

  • “It was me and Blac Youngsta,” Moneybagg began the recount around the 19-minute mark. “A couple more people from Memphis with us too. This was before the ‘Federal’ series. They had the ‘Versace’ song out. It was a minute. We was in the streets with it. They had a show in Nashville and a fight had went on. We had helped them...not that they needed our help or nothin’ like that. We just got in it like, ‘We rock with y'all.’”

As fate would have it, Takeoff lost a bracelet in the scuffle. However, Youngsta was able to retrieve it.

  • “Blac Youngsta grabbed the bracelet, and we followed the tour bus,” Moneybagg continued. With luck on their side, the two were able to flag the Migos’ tour bus down to return the jewelry. “We were looking at the situation like, 'we can get more out of it than just a bracelet. Give the bracelet back [and] we probably gon' get a verse.’ We [were] thinking different. We [weren’t] trying to sell the bracelet. This situation might put us somewhere else.”

  • However, Moneybagg shared that the Migos’ crew was initially apprehensive about two random guys approaching their tour bus. Luckily, he continued, the trap trio warmed up to them once they made their intentions known, and they ended up exchanging numbers.

As for whether we’ll ever hear the Migos or Takeoff’s side of the story?

“They most definitely remember the story,” Moneybagg said. “But we ain't talked about it in so long. It ain't really nothing to talk about, it is what it is.”
