Lloyd honored his aunt while giving Usher his flowers during a Miami date of the Past Present Future Tour this week.On Monday, December 16, the New Orleans native joined Usher onstage to perform his hits “You” and “Get It Shawty” while debuting his new shaved look. The hairstyle surprised some in the audience who knew Lloyd for his famous curly tresses.

After his surprise appearance, Lloyd thanked Usher and reminded the 8-time Grammy winner that he once met him at 11 years old. After sharing that Usher gave him “grace, confidence, love and support” as a child, Lloyd explained the “valuable lessons” he learned from the R&B star.

“I learned to love, with passion, my music. I learned to love my kids with everything I have,” he continued, getting cheers from the Kaseya Center crowd. “You’re a hell of a father. And I learned to be a great human being, or at least try to be, each day.”

Lloyd added, “Today is the first day since I cut my hair off.” 

“And it’s because my aunt is fighting cancer. And I wanna take that journey with her. So thank you for allowing me to be here,” he said.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Lloyd chopped off his hair. In 2010, the singer donated his hair to Locks of Love, a nonprofit charity that contributes wigs to those suffering from hair loss due to cancer, alopecia and other medical causes.
