LOL: Eminem's Birthday Shout-Out to 50 Cent Might Explain His Rap Hiatus
This Thursday (July 6), New York rap, business and showbiz magnate (and let’s not forget social media comedy sensation) 50 Cent turned 42 years old, which means he and his hip-hop family have all the reasons to celebrate.
Even though he’s invited all of his Instagram followers to crack in on him with some jokes to commemorate another year of life, it’s his longtime friend and Detroit rap star Eminem who’s got fans doubled over in laughter.
Sending a shout-out to Fif from a video clip, Em began with a happy birthday message to the G-Unit flagbearer. He then swiftly spit one of Fif’s most memorable verses of his career, according to Eminem.
“Yo, Fif I want to say happy birthday,” he said in the clip, which Fif shared on his Instagram. “Secondly, I want to remind you of the verse you did that made me want to quit rapping.”
Em goes on to hilariously mimic bar-for-bar Fif’s “Places to Go” verse from Eminem’s 8 Mile soundtrack. Produced by Slim Shady himself, Fif rhymes over the entire song in just two verses.
“Yeah, so that made me want to stop rapping,” Em joked. “For like a long time. Uh, anyways, man. Happy birthday. Love you, homie. Peace.”
Returning the love, Fif captioned the video with his thanks and a nod to Em’s rap skills as well.
“Thank you @eminem, you know [you’re] still the best in the world to me man,” he wrote. “I love you bro.”
