Kamala Harris Joins Maya Rudolph for a Surprise Appearance on ‘Saturday Night Live’
Kamala Harris recently appeared on "Saturday Night Live" just days before the presidential election.
She played her real-life self alongside Maya Rudolph, who famously impersonated her on the show. As the audience erupted in applause, Harris was seated across from Rudolph in a humorous "mirror image" moment. Harris warmly addressed Rudolph, saying, “It is nice to see you, Kamala, and I'm just here to remind you, you got this.”
The brief exchange between the vice president and comedian featured a rallying call for supporters: “Keep Kamala and carry-on-ala. " They affirmed their shared "belief in the promise of America" and concluded with the iconic line, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”
They also took a jab at Donald Trump’s recent stunt, where he struggled to open a garbage truck door on a tarmac in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Harris told Rudolph, “You’ve got this, because you can do something your opponent cannot do… you can open doors.” With a grin, Rudolph replied, "I can see what you did there. Like to a garbage truck, right?"
As BET previously reported, Rudolph first portrayed Harris in 2019 during her run in the 2020 presidential election. After that appearance, Harris expressed her appreciation by sharing a GIF of Rudolph saying, “No one is above the law!” on her X (formerly Twitter) account. “That girl being played by @MayaRudolph on @nbcsnl? That girl was me,” she captioned the post. Rudolph responded with, “YES, SHE WAS SENATOR HARRIS!!!”
Rudolph has since reprised the role this season as “SNL” took on the 2024 presidential campaign.
