Freddie Gibbs Arrested in France Over Rape Allegations

The rapper was cuffed just moments before he was scheduled to hit the stage.

Freddie Gibbs was arrested before a show in Toulouse, France on Thursday after a European warrant was issued by Austria in relation to a rape that the rapper allegedly committed in 2015.

According to Le Depeche, the rapper was arrested just moments before taking the stage.

Gibbs has been on a world tour for several weeks, and was forced to cancel an upcoming show in Vienna, Austria due to what he called "transportation issues."

While Gibbs is facing extradition to Austria, his lawyer, Scott Leemon, has promised that the rapper "will be fighting the extradition request as these are nothing more than trumped up charges."

Leemon released a statement regarding the allegations to AllHipHop: "Freddie Gibbs adamantly denies these allegations that have been levied against by Austrian authorities," he said. "It makes you wonder why it took almost a year for Austrian officials to bring these charges."

If the allegations are found, they are quite disturbing indeed. Gibbs has gained popularity since his 2014 album Piñata reached 38 on the Billboard 200, and is recently gaining fans for his popular Snapchat page, and the adorable relationship he has with his infant daughter.
