Jeannie Mai And Jeezy Have Been Together A Lot Longer Than We Thought
It was recently reported that The Real host Jeannie Mai and rapper Jeezy are a couple after they showed up together at the inaugural SnoBall Gala, which raises funds for the rapper's non-profit.
On the heels of the public's knowledge of their seemingly fresh romance, a friend of the couple is sharing what brought them together and revealed that their relationship has been going on much longer than we thought.
The friend told People that Mai and Jeezy have been dating for about a year and their affinity for helping others is what sparked their mutual attraction.
"Mai and Jeezy have been dating for about one year and they are very happy," the unnamed friend said. "He has been a recurring guest on The Real. They are both extremely dedicated to serving their communities and strongly support each other's careers and passions."
The mutual source outlined specifically what they each do to uplift their respective communities.
"Jeannie's devotion is to empower women and serves as an advocate against human trafficking and victims of sexual abuse," the friend explained. "Jeezy is the founder of Street Dreamz Foundation, a non-profit organization that encourages a generation of at-risk youth to become effective leaders."
Their friend's claim seems to ring true as Mai sparingly first spoke on their romance while hosting The Real back in January.
"He's very special to me," she said about the rapper and philanthropist. "We're just having a good time together."
Jeezy is Mai's first public relationship since her split from her estranged husband of 10 years, Freddy Harteis.
