UPDATE: The ‘Black Panther’ Box Office Numbers Are In And They're Historic

Millions showed out for the Marvel film.

UPDATE:

We already thought that Black Panther was going to do numbers but what it actually accomplished blows our minds.

According to Forbes, the Marvel and Walt Disney movie earned an insane $192 million between Friday and Sunday and a projected $218 million Friday through Monday holiday opening. It's the biggest February opening weekend ever, the biggest solo superhero launch, the largest holiday opening (overtaking the $200 million Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen did in 2009), the biggest Friday through Monday launch, and the biggest non-sequel launch of all time.

Overall, it's the fifth-biggest Friday though Sunday opening weekend of all time, trailing The Avengers, Jurassic World, The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens.

The film's also done $361 million worldwide and that's not even counting Monday's holiday numbers in North America or major territories like China and Russia that have yet to open to theaters.

Don't tell us Black films can't do numbers!

"Black Panther" is slated to be the biggest February movie release in history. Some projections even have it as the biggest opening weekend for a superhero film ever.

The movie, adapted from a Marvel comic book, is on pace to cash in between $205 and $210 million.

The film stars Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Chadwick Boseman, and Daniel Kaluuya, among others. Numerous other celebrities have taken it upon themselves to purchase a ticket, or even buy out an entire theater.

Serena Williams and Octavia Spencer have given out a bunch of tickets to moviegoers from disadvantaged communities. T.I. partnered with Walmart to provide a free "Black Panther" screening for children in Atlanta.

Below are some of the celebrities who either attended a screening or made sure groups of others were able to. And, of course, both.
