How Brian Tyree Henry Would Raise $2 Million In A Hurry

The WIDOWS star has a foolproof strategy for quick cash.

In the dramatic heist film WIDOWS, Brian Tyree Henry plays a Chicago criminal turned politician named Jamal Manning trying to move from street level exploits to the relative safety of white collar crime. However, his plans are thwarted when a professional thief named Harry Rawlings (Liam Neeson) steals $2 million from his campaign war chest.

Rawlings and his crew are killed by the police after their heist and the money goes up in flames, so Jamal puts pressure on Rawlings’ widow Veronica (Viola Davis) to cover the debt, giving her a month to come up with the money…or else.

When BET sat down with the cast of WIDOWS at the Chicago International Film Festival, we asked them how they would raise $2 Million in a hurry.

“I’d sell my house,” Michelle Rodriguez, who plays Linda, a shopkeeper turned thief, said with little hesitation. The multi-talented Cynthia Erivo, who plays the athletic babysitter Belle, would sing her way to her goal, but Brian was not trying to put in any ACTUAL work.

“I’d start a GoFundMe,” he says matter-of-factly. “The cause would be anything to change the politics of the people we have right now. Come add this money and we’ll change the way the world is right now.”

However, Michelle was skeptical. “Would you actually use it for that?”

Brian, clearly still in character, is focused on the details. “That is not what he asked!”

Sounds like Brian has a bright future in politics!

WIDOWS is in theaters this Friday November 16!
