Kanye West’s ‘Lost In The World’ Was Originally A Poem For His Wife
Yesterday (Nov 22) was the tenth anniversary of the release of Kanye West’s fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. His wife, Kim Kardashian-West, took to Instagram to share some new information about one of the track’s songs with fans on its big day.
On her Instagram Stories, Kim shared some new information about the LP’s penultimate track, “Lost In The World.” The track’s lyrics actually come from a poem that he wrote her for her birthday.
“For those that don’t know, the story of ‘Lost In The World’ on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy . . . Kanye couldn’ t come up with some lyrics and then realized he had them, it was what he wrote me for my 30th birthday card. He took the poem he wrote me and made it the song,” she wrote.
She also shared pictures of both the birthday card and lyric sheet from “Lost In The World,” with them both being created by hand. The handwritten poem would go on to become the first verse from the song.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is widely considered to be Kanye’s best album. Upon its release in 2010, it sold 496,000 copies in its first week, leading it to land at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200.
The LP has won a large number of awards such as Best Rap Album at the 2012 Grammy Awards and Best Rap Song and Best ‘Rap/Sung Collaboration for its song, “All of the Lights.”
