At the end of last week’s Zatima, Connie had a weird feeling about the Jeremiah news—and her instincts were spot on. She took Fatima to the hospital, just to double-check, and they found Jeremiah alive and well in bed. Soooo… why is Zac in jail being interrogated for killing his brother?

Seriously, this raises so many questions, starting with: what kind of law enforcement wouldn’t confirm the victim was actually dead before arresting someone?

Fatima knows she can get Zac out but decides to let him stew for a bit, telling Connie not to say anything just yet. She’s relieved that this clears up a major hurdle in their relationship but still feels conflicted about moving forward with him. Fatima calls Dr. Reed to unload her feelings, and while he provides a listening ear, he’s also committed to helping Zac when needed.

Preston, at Zac’s request, stops by Fatima’s place and convinces her to at least talk to Zac. When she does, Zac acknowledges he was dead wrong and apologizes, saying he should have listened to her, yatta yatta. Fatima, however, lets him squirm, opting to keep him locked up for another night to teach him a lesson. Painful to watch? Yes. Necessary? Also yes.

Of course, Connie couldn’t keep her mouth shut. She spills the Jeremiah tea to Tony and Nate and even tells them about Fatima’s plan to teach Zac a lesson by letting him stay in jail. Nate and Tony, however, are not on board with the idea, and Nate, being Nate, decides to intervene.

And because this show thrives on ridiculous twists, a correctional officer—who just so happens to know Deja—passes on a shady message to Zac. The CO shows Zac a picture from Deja of Fatima hugging another man, claiming Fatima is stepping out on him. The man’s face isn’t visible, but viewers can clearly tell it’s Dr. Reed. Thankfully, Zac doesn’t react, which might mean he’s finally starting to wisen up. But we’ll have to wait for the next episode to see if this bait causes any new drama.
