Megan Thee Stallion Wins Restraining Order Against Tory Lanez

The judge cited “credible threat of violence."

Megan Thee Stallion scored a legal victory against Tory Lanez on Thursday, January 9.

According to “Billboard,” the 3-time Grammy winner testified to Los Angeles Judge Richard Bloom via Zoom after filing a restraining order against Lanez, whom she accused of harassment and inciting a “smear campaign” towards her. Lanez, who denied the allegations, including that he utilized internet personality Milagro Gramz, real name Milagro Elizabeth Cooper, as a “mouthpiece.” In December 2022, Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, was convicted of the July 2020 shooting of Megan, born Megan Pete, before being sentenced to ten years in August 2023.

Megan, who was granted a civil restraining order from Lanez that will last for the next five years, emotionally testified that she hasn’t “been at peace” since the shooting, which occurred in the Hollywood Hills. The 3-time Grammy winner added that she’s “tired of being harassed.”

“It just seems like I have to relive it every day. The person who shot me won’t let me forget it,” she continued. “I’m scared that when he gets out of jail, he’s going to still be upset with me…I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time I won’t make it.”

In response, Judge Bloom said that Megan demonstrated a “credible threat of violence” and other possible misconduct that “seriously harasses the petitioner and serves no lawful purpose.” Bloom granted the bench order and prohibited a range of conduct from Lanez, including any form of contact or harassment.

In December, Megan’s lawyers called for the civil harassment restraining order in L.A. court, accusing Lanez of partnering with Gramz and other third parties to “harass, bully, and antagonize” the “Bigger in Texas” artist.

Michael Hayden, Lanez's lawyer, spoke during Thursday's hearing and claimed that his client was “not threatening the petitioner in any way,” also defending Lanez's "free speech."
