Kanye West and Lil Wayne Tackle Fashion Design
Kanye is no stranger to the fashion world and word is that the G.O.O.D. rapper is working to release a luxury womenswear line this fall. The collection will be a collaboration with 30-year-old British fashion designer Louise Goldin, who was taught by the director of London design school Central Saint Martins' fashion master's program Louise Wilson.
"I've known [West] for two years now and he's incredibly knowledgeable about fashion, he's a global phenomenon and a very interesting person," Wilson tells British paper The Guardian. "I think we can expect a well-considered collection, you wouldn't expect less from a pair of professionals and I warn against dismissing it in haste."
"There are those who might assume Louise will be doing all the work and Kanye is just the face, I don't believe this will be the case – he researches thoroughly and is hands on and committed to his work."
The new line could possibly launch at New York’s Fashion Week festival later this year.
Lil Wayne is also looking into entering the fashion industry. Last week, the Young Money head announced that he would like to have his own clothing line, saying, "I just figure that I… I’m funky. I got that from my stylist, Marisa. I’m funky, like she say."
"A year from now, I want all these items to be mine. Rebirth," he continued. "I want – I just figure people want to be funky like me, so I got my clothing line."
We're pretty sure it takes a wee bit more work than being "funky" to put out a whole clothing line, but you tell us: do you want to dress like Weezy?
