Bank of America was ordered to pay Black job applicants $2,181,593 in back wages and interest to settle a discrimination case that has lasted for two decades, according to a statement released by the U.S. Department of Labor.

An administrative law judge and the agency found that the company applied unfair selection criteria, which led to the rejection of 1,147 qualified African-American applicants for teller and entry-level administrative positions. 
The Charlotte-based company will award a total of $964,033 to 1,034 applicants who were denied employment in 1993. Additionally, they must pay $1,217,560 to 113 people who were rejected for jobs between 2002 and 2005.
