Waka Flocka Claims Cheating On His Wife Made Her ‘Better’ And The Internet Is Confused
There’s an adage that a marriage that can weather many trials and tribulations will only be made stronger. Apparently, Waka Flocka Flame believes that extends to infidelity, too.
He expressed this belief in a recent episode of him and his wife Tammy Rivera’s new show, Waka & Flocka: What The Flocka. During a couples therapy session with Dr. Siri, Waka claimed that his past indiscretions served a bigger purpose in their relationship.
“I actually made her meaner. [Tammy] had no idea what she was up against. It could have made her or broke her…it made her even better than what I thought, he said. I helped her.”
Tammy immediately shot down the idea during the session.
“That’s the thing, he thinks he helped me by doing some of the evil and mean things he did to make me meaner, that didn’t help me,” Tammy interjected. “What that did was add insecurities to me and made me not trust your judgment in certain s**t, and made me not trust you in certain ways. It did not help me. You did not have to do that. Life would have done that.”
In his confessional, the “No Hands” rapper admitted that it’s “f***ed up to say” that cheating on his spouse made her better. But the way Waka sees it, Tammy had to be strong in order to not fold under all of the public scrutiny that comes with being a celebrity.
“It actually made Tammy like a beast. The whole world was looking at her. I don’t think nothing is more embarrassing than that,” he reiterated, to which Tammy responded, “cheating didn’t make me stronger. Beating his a** made me stronger.”
Nonetheless, Tammy admits that there were a lot of challenges that came with their relationship, especially when Waka was at the height of his fame, that forced her to grow a thicker skin. She said she felt like she was fighting a “spiritual battle” by herself.
“When I first met Waka, he was in the prime of his career. So there [were] women, there was drugs, there was alcohol, there was fame, which is a drug within itself. Those were all demons I was fighting,” Tammy expounded. “So when I moved to Georgia and I decided to be with this man, I did not know I had to suit up for war, because that’s what I felt like I was doing.”
This isn’t the first time Tammy and Waka have been candidly open about setbacks in their marriage. In 2018, the Love & Hip-Hop star told Hollywood Unlocked that she cheated on Waka before they got married as well. Although, Tammy clarified that she didn’t have “sex with anyone.”
“I've cheated on him, in the past,” she said. “People only see one side to a story.”
