Obamas Celebrate 19th Anniversary
Barack Obama is the 44th president of the United States but it doesn’t mean he gets to skip out on celebrating he and his wife's 19-year marriage anniversary. If anything, it means dinner has to be done in style.
Zipping out of Washington, D.C. to Alexandria, VA for a 2-day early celebration (they were married Oct. 3, 1992 in Chicago), the power couple dined at Restaurant Eve until about 10:30p Saturday night, The Washington Times reports. The chef there has worked with Mrs. Obama to help promote her healthy-food initiative.
Earlier in the day, the President spoke at a Human Rights Campaign gala in D.C. where he chided fellow Republicans for not standing up for gay military personnel. Referencing an event in which some GOP audience members booed a gay soldier who videoed in, Mr. Obama, 50, asks, “You want to be commander in chief? You can start by standing up for the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States, even when it’s not politically convenient,” the Washington Post reports.
