Serena Williams Is Giving Her Breast Milk to Families In Need
Serena Williams is serving up good deeds this season.
In an effort to not waste her unused breast milk, the 23-time Grand Slam champion decided to donate it to deserving families, as reported by PEOPLE. The mom of two opened up on Instagram about her decision to offer up the precious liquid.
"On a recent trip to NY I had left over breast milk. After going through a screening I was able to donate it instead of taking the milk home," she explained in the caption of the post. "I know so many amazing women that adopt or are unable to make milk."
For the iconic athlete, this opportunity to volunteer "felt amazing."
"BTW Someone out there is getting some super soldier milk,” she added.
Her post was accompanied by a video of her opening a freezer door that showed multiple packets of the milk.
In the video, she said she was "really excited" to donate the milk because "some people really need it."
For this selfless act, Williams has chosen to remain anonymous. "Super excited to just help in some way," she concluded.
In August, she announced the birth of baby number two with husband Alexis Ohanian on TikTok. In the one-minute video, dad is seen sitting alone at a table. Seconds later, he is joined by the tennis star and their daughter Olympia. As they sit together, Williams gets up from the table and returns moments later with the newest addition to their happy tribe.
“Welcome my beautiful angel,” she captioned the post, as the family began showering little Adira with hugs and kisses.
The couple hosted a gender reveal event at the end of July, during which a drone flew overhead in the evening sky.
While staring into the night sky, the words “IT’S A…” appeared, then vanished. Finally, “GIRL!” appeared in pink, and the growing family erupted with joy.
