Bill Cosby's Life Is About to Change in a Major Way
It's going to be a long night for Bill Cosby.
A Pennsylvania judge presiding over the TV icon's felony aggravated assault case will rule tomorrow whether or not to dismiss the charges, which were brought on by former Temple University employee Andrea Constand. Cosby allegedly raped Constand back in 2004, and she sued him for sexual misconduct in 2005 after the Pennsylvania district attorney at the time, Bruce Castor, refused to pursue criminal charges against the sitcom star.
Here's where it gets interesting. Castor was called back into this mess as a key witness for Cosby's defense team, which claims Castor promised Cosby he wouldn't face criminal charges as long as he agreed to give a deposition in Constand's civil case. That very deposition was unsealed last year, the contents of which basically confirmed everyone's worst suspicions about Cosby (he copped to using quaaludes to drug women) and catapulting these new criminal charges.
Back in 2005, Castor said he wouldn't press charges against Cosby because of "credibility" issues with Constand. Now, though, he's apparently pulling a 180. Though he was brought into this new suit by Cosby's lawyers, Castor is making his feelings about the Cosby Show star apparent. “Let’s be clear," Castor said to Cosby's attorney under oath. “I’m not on your team here. I want (prosecutors) to win” at the hearing.
Even more damning, he also stated on the witness stand that he believes Cosby is guilty. "What I think is that Andrea Constand was inappropriately touched by Mr. Cosby,” Castor said. “I am not analyzing back in 2005 as to what I think. I am analyzing it back in 2005 as to what I can prove."
It's a bad day for Team Cosby if their star witness is going on the record to say he thinks Cosby is guilty. But tomorrow may be even worse.
