Florida Reporter Covering Missing Child Case Finds Boy Himself

Cameron Polom found Paul Ezekial Fagan while reporting on the case in the boy's neighborhood.

When journalist Cameron Polom, 29, and his cameraman went to cover a missing child case in the 10-year-old boy’s neighborhood, they never imagined what — or rather whom — they would find.

Polom noticed a tired-looking child who resembled Paul Ezekial Fagan, the child who had been reported missing last week, in a nearby yard, Today.com reported.

"He’s looking at me and I’m thinking, 'Could this possibly be this kid? Is this really happening?'" the reporter told Today.com. "It was a very surreal moment.”

Local police officers soon reunited Fagan with his family.

The child told Polom that he had left his grandmother’s house in search of some “alone time” away from his younger brother. He spent a majority of his time napping in a neighbor’s backyard.

Authorities had led an unsuccessful overnight search with helicopters before holding a news conference to alert the media early last week. It was shortly after attending the news conference that Polom found Fagan around 7 a.m. on Friday.

“There was a sense of relief from everybody there, all the journalists, all the investigators. And seeing the family respond the way they did, it was awesome,” Polom told Today.com.
