Lion Babe Teams Up With Pharrell on New Song, 'Wonder Woman'
After snagging Childish Gambino for their debut single "Jump Hi," New York duo Lion Babe is following up with an even bigger name in their corner. Their fun and funky new single "Wonder Woman" is produced by the ice cream man himself, Pharrell, whom they call "a mentor from the start."
Lion Babe, consisting of Jillian Hervey, 25, and Lucas Goodman, 26, debuted the cut on Annie Mac's Radio 1 show Wednesday night (March 18). Speaking specifically on the "Happy" singer's involvement on the track, the duo admitted that his cool factor definitely rubbed off on them through his amazing advice.
"It was like the sensei master teaching in Kill Bill, where you have to climb the stairs with the water," they told Interview Magazine. "The whole week after that I was thinking about what he said. Even just watching him make music and how he went about making beats, it was so fast, so quick. But his main thing was two things: Know what you're good at and also what you're not really good at, and then know what you want to do."
Pharrell's influence in "Wonder Woman" is hard to ignore as his signature stamp is showcased throughout the track. Hervey's soulful voice soars above the drum-heavy beat, further proving that Lion Babe is an act to look out for.
