Adele, Lil Wayne Lead American Music Awards Nominations
The 2011 American Music Award nominations have just been announced, and leading the pack this year is an undeniable import from the UK. British soul sensation Adele is the most nominated artist with four nominations, including Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Favorite Album for 21.
Following Adele with three nominations a piece are pop mainstays Lil Wayne, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. With the exception of Rih Rih, all of those artists will go head-to-head with Adele in the Album of the Year category.
Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Kanye West are nominated for Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Artist, while Chris Brown, Usher and Trey Songz all got nods for Favorite Soul/Rythm & Blues Artist. In the female R&B category, former Destiny's Child members Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland enter a showdown along with Rihanna.
The American Music Awards will be held on November 20 and broadcast live on ABC from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. See the full list of nominees here.
