Doechii Continues “Denial Is a River” Rollout With Mexican-Inspired Drama
Approaching the release date of her “Denial Is a River” show, Doechii teased the visual with a new segment titled “La Rosa de Doechii.”
On Sunday, December 29, the “Alligator Bites Never Heal” rapper shared the clip, inspired by the 2000s Mexican drama “La Rosa de Guadalupe.” Playing opposite the Tampa native as ‘Fabio’ is Zack Fox, who comically argues with Doechii in Spanish before Baby Tate waltzes into the kitchen to hug Doechii, leaving Fabio in anguish.
Two other teasers, “Doechii Slaps Brad Pitt” and “Can I Hit That?” have been unveiled in the lead-up to “Denial Is a River,” which arrives on January 2, 2025. The sitcom-based visual will include fellow artists Earl Sweatshirt, ScHoolboy Q, Teezo Touchdown, SiR, and more.
The song is featured on Doechii’s “Alligator Bites Never Heal” mixtape, which is Grammy-nominated for Best Rap Album, while the artist is also up for Best Rap Artist and Best Rap Performance (“Nissan Altima”).
Doechii’s Grammy campaign has been stacked, as she recently made her NPR Tiny Desk Concerts debut and even tapped Issa Rae for a live rendition of “Denial.”
But the best of Doechii has yet to come. In an interview with “Variety” earlier this month, the 26-year-old shared that she plans to release her debut album in the new year. “All I can think about is this album,” she said. “So I’m just looking forward to making more hits, making more music and achieving more of my goals. That’s it.”
