Watch: Tyson Beckford Drags Matt Damon For Being a Hypocrite
Matt Damon has a lot of 'splaining to do — just hopefully not any whitesplaining.
The actor has found himsef in the center of a fresh controversy after a year in which he has already been called out for condescendingly explaining diversity in Hollywood to an established Black female producer, and — most recently — for being the face of film industry whitewashing as the star of the Chinese epic film The Great Wall.
Now, Tyson Beckford is putting Damon on blast for being a hypocrite about gun control.
TMZ caught up with Beckford on the street in Los Angeles, apparently staring at a giant billboard for the film Jason Bourne, featuring only Damon holding up a firearm.
"I thought he was, like, anti-gun..." Beckford asks sarcastically. "But, I don't know, I see you with a big gun. Get money!"
The actor continues, "He claims he's not 2A [2nd Amendment] friendly. You can't sit there and denounce the gun when the gun is making you money. Myself..I don't play that. I'm 2A all day. But, I guess, it's Hollywood. You can lie and still get your money."
Damon has gotten quite a bit of pushback on the lastest Bourne film and it's provocative poster, even saying at a press conference in Australia that he hopes the U.S. would adopt as radical an anti-gun policy as Down Under.
"You guys did it here in one fell swoop and I wish that could happen in my country, but it's such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly," he told The Sydney Morning Herald. "We just can't."
Looks like his actions are speaking a lot louder than his words. Watch our exclusive interview with Damon talking about "breaking up" with President Barack Obama over his policies, above.
