Drakeo the Ruler: Family Doesn’t Have Enough To Cover His Funeral Costs

The rapper’s mother, Darrylene Corniel, wants to ask the court to tap into her son’s assets.

Drakeo the Ruler’s family is now sharing the news that they can’t afford to pay for his funeral and want to involve the courts to see if they can get access to the rapper’s coins to assist.

According to TMZ, Drakeo’s mother, Darrylene Corniel, shared that she and her family are unable to cover the nearly $52,000 bill for his homegoing ceremony. She is hoping that funds from her son’s estate can help.

In the legal documents obtained by the outlet, the “Talk To Me” artist, born Darrell Caldwell, has at least $2 million worth of assets.

Corniel notes that she plans for the memorial to be full of “dignity, style and grace.”

Most notably known for his Free Drakeo project and his Thank You for Using GTL, which Pitchfork called “likely the greatest rap album ever recorded from jail,” Drakeo was known for his unique flow, as well as his “oddly expressive, poetic word-choices,” according to the L.A. Times.

BET previously reported that Drakeo was fatally stabbed in the neck in Dec. 2021 while backstage at the Once Upon A Time in LA festival concert.

The 28-year-old was one of several rappers who scheduled to perform at the event located in L.A.’s Exposition Park.
