Oprah Winfrey Enjoys Signature Cocktail Inspired By ‘The Color Purple’
In celebration of "The Color Purple," Oprah Winfrey has donned several shades of purple during red-carpet outings and sit-down interviews. Now, she is enjoying the vibrant hue in a cocktail glass.
While the movie hasn't hit the box office yet, the legendary media mogul is celebrating its long-awaited debut every chance she gets, even in her own kitchen. On Sunday (Dec. 10), she shared a video on social media highlighting the adult beverage inspired by the film.
"@thecolorpurple has taken over my life so much that now we’re making Purple drinks at my house," the revered journalist said in the caption of the post on Instagram.
"We've come up with our own "Color Purple" drink for the holiday season and for all your purple activities," she was captured saying in the video.
While Ms. O did not make the drink herself, she was standing nearby as it was being curated by a barista in her kitchen.
Combine apple juice, ginger, beet juice, and a "tiny bit of lemon juice" in a two-piece shaker to make the signature drink. Then, take one ounce of that mixture and pour it into a separate glass, adding "half an ounce of lime juice" along with "1/4 of Blue Curacao." After that, add a "half ounce of simple syrup," then add the lid and shake.
Then combine sparkling water and stir.
You can also kick it up a notch and add your choice of vodka, gin, or tequila. Then pour that combination into a martini glass and garnish with a blackberry.
Cheers!
"The Color Purple" premieres in theaters Dec. 25.
