In the wake of Philando Castile being fatally shot by a police officer after being pulled over for a traffic violation (as well as due to being racial profiled), country singer Coffey Anderson has taken the liberty of sharing his advice on what to do when the police pull you over if you are a person of color.

His video, which has been viewed more than 30 million times, is angering many because it suggests that the drivers are to blame for when incidents involving police go sour.

In the video, he suggests to fans that they should keep their hands on the steering wheel at all times, as well as avoid any movements that may suggest they could possibly have a weapon on them.

“As the cop is approaching, you have to realize he doesn't know what's coming,” Anderson points out. “As he's walking up to the car, if he's able to see both of your hands that's safer for him. What it does, it takes his adrenaline down.”

While his intention with the video was to help create a “safer situation” while re-enacting a "routine traffic stop" and applying his advice with a friend in the driver’s seat, the former American Idol contestant points out that, at the end of the day, he wants everyone to be safe.

“At the end of the day, the policeman wants to go home safely, we want to get home safely,” said Anderson. “Even if the cop is having a bad day you have to go home, you've gotta make it home.”
