Big Papi's Thirst Is Real
Derek Jeter received a standing ovation at the Boston Red Sox' Fenway Park in the ultimate sign of respect for their New York Yankees captain during his final season in 2014.
Now, "Big Papi" David Ortiz wants the favor returned in the Bronx.
With this 2016 Major League Baseball season being his 20th and final year before retiring, Ortiz is blatantly asking Yankees fans to show him love in his last game.
"You know what I want most of all?’’ Ortiz told the New York Post this week. “I would love it if the fans at Yankee Stadium gave me a standing ovation."
Damn. We guess we could appreciate his blatant honesty with the request, but do you really have to be so thirsty about it, Papi?
It's not like Jeter asked Red Sox fans to give it up for him months before playing his last game in Boston.
But yet, that's what Ortiz is doing with New Yorkers.
Let's see how Yankees fans respond in Ortiz's last game at Yankee Stadium on September 29.
Will they boo him? That would be a severe case of when the thirst goes wrong, wouldn't it?
Stay tuned.
