See Beyoncé's Couture $3,500 Birthday Cake
As you’re well aware, we celebrated a major holiday on Monday. Nope, not Labor Day, something more important — Beyoncé’s birthday. And what better way to celebrate the queen herself than an extravagant three-tiered honey lavender-flavored, geode cake, with edible sugar crystals.
We can only imagine what was running through Cake Life Bake Shop co-owners Lily Fischer and Nima Etemadi’s minds when the call came through. According to the bakery, they received an order requesting some cakes and cookies for “New York clientele who were coming down for the Made in America festival” over the weekend.
Hmmm, wonder who that could be?
Then, the caller specifically asked for black-and-yellow-colored items, including a black-and-yellow geode-themed cake. Naturally, Lily and Nima quickly put two-and-two together since Queen Bey’s birthday was 9/4 and the cake was for the evening of 9/3. Both are proud card-carrying members of the #BeyHive, so they quickly got to work to accommodate the order.
In addition to the show-stopping cake, the team also created cookies shaped like beehives and golden crowns inspired by Beyoncé’s 2017 Grammy performance.
On Sunday night, led by security at the event, Lily and her team escorted the cake and cookies to a private area behind the festival stage. There, they were asked to set up the treats inside a trailer belonging to one of Beyoncé’s staff members, which contained various items marked for the singer.
While they aren’t complaining, Cake Life Bake Shop has no idea how Queen Bey’s team found them. However, this isn’t their first brush with fame — they have been featured in July 2017 issue of Oprah magazine and named 2017’s best new bakery in Philadelphia magazine’s annual "Best Of" issue.
We are a bit #jealous that both Lily and Nima are living the sweet life.
