Black Alabama Woman Returns Home After Vanishing On The Highway
Social media users are rejoicing at the news that 25-year-old Carlethia "Carlee" Nichole Russell has been returned home alive.
CNN is reporting that Hoover, Alabama police made a statement that they received a call at 10:45 p.m. local time Saturday, via their 911 call center that Russell had returned home. They dispatched a medical team to the family home. “Hoover Fire medics responded to the scene to assess Carlee and transported her to a local hospital for evaluation,” the statement said. Police also responded to the scene to investigate, according to the statement.
Russell reportedly stopped to check on a toddler who was wandering along a highway not far from her home in Hoover, Ala., according to the New York Post.
She reportedly called 9-1-1 to report the child who appeared lost. She was on the phone with a family member when she left to help the toddler, the report says.
An anonymous donor has offered $20,000 for Russell's safe return and CrimeStoppers has added an additional $5,000. The reward was raised to 55,000 on Saturday.
No additional information about Russell's whereabouts have been released. Additional information “will be provided when it becomes available,” police say.
