Cam'Ron's rebirth in the hip hop game has been building over the last couple of years. And although the Grammy-nominated rapper has not yet reached the commercial success he once endured with Roc-A-fella Records, he has been keeping his name buzzing in the streets. His latest project, Gunz and Butter, a collaboration album with his protege Vado, was released last week. Cam and Vado took time out to speak exclusively with BET.com about their latest. 

"The new album is called Gunz and Butta. The new single is called 'Hey Muma.' It’s crazy... Streets was anticipating it for a minute, so we just had to get it out there," Cam told BET.com.

Produced mostly by beatsmith Araab Muzik, the album landed at number 78 on the Billboard Top 200 album charts, selling a modest 7,500 units in its first week of release. In this new day and age of lower record sales, the duo, who calls themselves The U.N., had to break the records in the streets first, and even their album title is reflective of that.

Vado explains: "Butta is that butter, you know Parkay, Country Crock," he says with a laugh. "It’s a street slang word [for] a product of something that moves through our neighborhood. We all know, so, that’s that butta."

The video for "Hey Muma" made its 106 & Park debut this past week. The concept? A party, of course! Vado breaks it down: "The video was crazy. It was raw talent. We shot it in downtown Soho, so we had that real dark look in the club; you know, we perform on stage, we got ladies, we got the crew coming through. It’s like a big stage, concert-type party."
