Lauryn Hill's day of reckoning has been delayed yet again. The singer appeared in a New Jersey courtroom today to face sentencing after failing to report $1.8 million in income to the IRS, but the judge decided to give Hill a little more time to pay the $504,000 bill. Hill's sentencing has been pushed to May 6, giving her two weeks to write a check or face jail time.

Last summer, the ex-Fugees star pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges after failing to pay Uncle Sam $1.8 million between 2005 and 2007. Hill told fans in a statement on Tumblr that she felt it was "necessary to withdraw from society, in order to guarantee the safety and well-being of myself and my family."

Hill was initially scheduled to face sentencing last November, but there was a delay that allowed her lawyers to file new legal documents with the court explaining, again, the singer's fear for her family's safety.
